Loch Ard Sculpture Trail

Loch Ard Sculpture Trail  was launched in May 2008. A series of eight sculptures representing the links in the natural food chain of the forest. .

Rob Mulholland a local artist was commissioned by Scottish Enterprise and Forestry Commission Scotland to create eight sculptures based on mamals, insects and birds found in the forest. The brief was to create representations of animals as part of the natural food chain in the forest. The brief allowed for a certain degree of abstraction of the forms as long as they were still recognisable to the public.

His proposal aimed to develop each sculpture individually utilising different materials and methodology. He felt that it was also important to vary the scale and placing of each sculpture to add variety and interest to the trail.

The sculptures are located on some fantastic local walks on the shores of Loch Ard and Lochin Spling ideal for an enjoyable walk or cycle. The starting point to see all the sculptures is Milton car park just 1 mile from Aberfoyle village on the road to kinlochard. All the trails are set within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park in Scotland and have become local landmarks within the area.
